Davis Stockton's will was probated in 1762. Date of death from "Albemarle County in Virginia", by Rev. Edgar Woods. Earliest known document for Davis Stockdon (sic) is a patent for land in Goochland Co., VA in 1739. This area of Goochland Co. later became Albemarle Co. The Stockton family tradition has always been that Davis Stockton originally "came from the North of Ireland".
