Notes for Nepolian Oscar White
GGG Grandfather of Ronald Paul Stockton. Information from LDS IGI. Further information from Jackie Mesenbrink skink@netins.net . In the 1860 Federal Census for Accomack Co., VA, on page 293 of the micro film, Nepolian White is listed as head of household. With him are William 18 yrs., John H. 27 yrs., Hubburt L. 7 yrs., and Robert Phillips 12 yrs.
The death certificate for Nepolian's son, John H. White, lists his father's first name as "Nepolian" and his mother's name as Ann Eliza Walker. The informant was John's daughter Maggie, shown as Mrs. O. P. Ray.
Further information from "The Miles Files" linked from the GHOTES web site at http://www.esva.net/ghotes/ - "Napoleon O. White was born in Accomack Co, VA circa 1810. Napoleon died 31 Jan 1880 in Missouri, at 69 years of age. He died of unknown causes at the age of 73. He was born in Acc Co, a farmer and a widower. His son Oswald F. White gave the information. There is also a similiar record, also given by Oswald F. White, that shows he died on 31 Jan 1881, also in Missouri at age 73 and in this record he was a blacksmith. Napoleon was named in his grandmother's will 5 Oct 1822 in Accomack Co, VA.(81505) His grandmother Bridget White named him in her will as Napolen White, son of her daughter Nancy White, and left him 25 acres lying in Dolls Swamp that she purchased from the executors of Elijah A. White". (Note: Elijah Addison White was Nancy's brother therefore a son of Bridget and Nepolian's uncle)
